Protagonist
Mr. White names the protagonist as the leading character in a play or story.
Although the story starts with Robert, the Protagonist is easily Victor Frankenstein. Most of the drama revolves around Victor; first it's all about him finishing his creation and then getting to marry Elizabeth, which establishes his goals. Enter the monster who makes Victor hate science and makes him hold off from marrying Elizabeth. There's the conflict where the protagonist and antagonist butt heads. The bodies of Victor's friends and families start turning up and he begins to feel more depressed and guilty because he knows his monster is behind the deaths. |
I have described myself as always having been imbued with a fervent longing to penetrate the secrets of nature. |
