Allegory
Mr. White describes an allegory as a narrative that has two meaning; one literal and one metaphorical.
In Frankenstein an allegory would be Victor playing God and abusing his knowledge to do something that people had never done before. He was focused so much on making his creation perfect and having his experiment complete and didn't think about how dangerous it would be to bring back the perfect corpse. It was relevant to the time period too, since people were talking more about death and experimenting more with lightning, electricity and all of their uses. |
